Dan Croll’s upcoming EP, On Top, has been highly anticipated for months, and is finally set to arrive on July 23^rd. The latest single to be plucked from the EP is ‘Big One’. His take on alternative pop is bouncy and unique, overflowing with personality and instant recognisability. We get an insistent bassline that would sound almost aggressive on its own, but combined with melodies that could come from Ben Folds and the playfulness – and maybe even some overt melodic references to ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ – of Randy Newman, we end up with something truly magical. -Dan Peeke
